Casa Alianza is a charity that does a lot of great work with street children in Central America, and by going to amazon.co.uk or expedia.co.uk through their website when you are shopping, a percentage of your purchase goes to the charity, but you are just paying your regular price.
How much easier does it need to be? For more information on the charity and this scheme, go to their website. Click on the 'get involved' button, then link through to Amazon or Expedia from there. Up to 7.5% goes to support Casa Alianza and their work with street children. Easy!!
History and Formation
Witness formed as a group of people loosely connected to ikon and each other in the run up to the war in Iraq, as confusion grew as to what was going to happen, and what our response should be. It included many people of varying positions in terms of nonviolence, war and conflict, but all keen to take responsibility for and wrestle with the implications of our country's involvement in this particular situation. We held seminars on a number of the issues, met regularly to chew over events as they unfolded, became involved in protests alongside other groups and individuals, and finally, when the war began, held nightly vigils outside the City Hall in Belfast. It made no difference and it made a lot of difference.
Throughout the process a website was set up and expanded daily, encouraging people to learn more about what was happening and to interact with the events and with each other. This website is still available to view online here.
